We’re Decking New Halls
We’re decking new halls this year!
I am happy to report that the wait is finally over and we are officially moved-in to our new apartment. The road to this home was bumpy, and as a first time apartment renter, way more complicated than I ever imagined. I am so grateful I had J to really navigate through this process with me.
While I have never participated in the realm of online dating, I have seen enough movies to know that the journey to this apartment was a lot like one epic Tinder fail. You connect, plans are made, then BAM… Ghosted. I’ll spare you the nitty gritty details but for context we toured an apartment we liked with a great price point and everything we were looking for. We put in an application, were told we were basically approved, and encouraged to let our current apartment complex know we were not renewing our lease. So we did.
Then they denied us.
We were set to be out of our apartment on October 1st, a new tenant was already lined up to move in and… we now had no place to live and only two weeks to look.
Cue chaos.
Looking for a reasonably priced, decently sized apartment on this side of town on a regular day is hard enough. Trying to find one in the middle of a pandemic was near impossible. But alas, we kept searching.
Finally, we found what we were looking for but the move-in date wasn’t for another month. So J and I packed up, moved our belongings into storage, and set on a crazy 5-week adventure of couch hopping and random hotel stays.
While it was fun while it lasted, I am so grateful to be home. Our home. We still have a few boxes to unpack but I couldn’t resist setting up our very first Christmas tree nearly immediately upon arrival. Call me nuts, but it just makes it feel that much more homey, ya know?
Lots more home-inspired posts to come as we continue to settle in.
