DIY Hostess Gift Idea: Wine Bottle Bouquet

Easy and inexpensive hostess gift idea using a wine bottle, floral foam, and cut flowers to create a beautiful and unique bouquet.

Materials

  • 1 Wine Bottle (Or bottle of choice)
  • Floral Stems
  • Floral Foam Brick
  • Cellophane
  • Scissors
  • Knife
  • Optional: Tissue Paper and Ribbon

Instructions

  • Begin by setting out the floral foam brick on a hard surface such as a table or kitchen counter.
    Gently turn your bottle cap-side down onto the center of the floral foam brick and press down. Continue pressing the bottle into the foam until the bottle has pierced through the foam completely.
    Carefully cut the foam with a knife so that each edge is either inline with or about an inch wider than the edge of the bottle. Remove the bottle and set aside.
  • Fill a bowl with water and place the foam into the bowl and let sit for about 1-2 minutes to absorb the water. Flipping the foam halfway through.
    Remove the foam from the water, allowing the excess to drip back into the bowl for a few seconds.
    Wrap the foam entirely with cellophane to ensure the water doesn't drip down the bottle. Use a knife to cut small slits in the cellophane over the holes you made in the foam.
    *you may experience some minor leaking, but it should subside after a few minutes.
  • Place the foam back onto the neck of the bottle.
  • Using your scissors, cut the floral stems so that each stem is roughly 2-3 inches long.
    Begin arranging your florals by piercing the foam with the cut side of each stem until the floral foam is no longer visible.
  • Optional: wrap the bottle in tissue paper and secure it with a ribbon at the base of the neck to create a beautiful wrapped bouquet look.
